Neutron 2 plug-ins with compatible EQ controls will look something like this when selected in Tonal Balance Control:
Global EQ Controls
- PLUG-IN SELECTION MENU: Allows you to select the instance to display/control from within the Tonal Balance Control interface.
- SOFT SATURATION: Enables/disables Soft Saturation in the selected Neutron 2 EQ. When enabled, this button will be colored orange.
- BYPASS: Momentarily bypasses EQ processing in the selected Neutron 2 plug-in. This bypass control is useful for quick A/B comparisons.Note about EQ Bypass state
- If the selected EQ is bypassed in the plug-in, the controls will appear dimmed in Tonal Balance Control. To enable the EQ in the selected plug-in, you will need to open the plug-in window and unbypass the EQ. EQ bypass state of a selected plug-in can’t be changed from the Tonal Balance Control interface.
- SHOW/HIDE SELECTED PLUG-IN DISPLAY: Toggles the incoming instance display panel open or closed.
Metering & Navigation
- SPECTRUM METERING: Displays spectrum metering for the selected instance. Neutron 2 plug-ins will display their spectrum metering in orange.
- EQ CURVE: If the selected Neutron 2 instance supports EQ control, the EQ curve controls will displayed in the spectrum meter area.Tips for working with EQ nodes
- Change filter shapes: You can change filter shapes of any visible node by right-clicking on the node and selecting the filter shape from the context menu that appears.
- Reset node to default: Double-click on a node to reset it to default values.
- Enable bands with double-click: Double-click in an empty spot in the spectrum display to enable a band at that frequency.
- BAND SELECTION & ENABLE/DISABLE CONTROLS:
- EQ bands can be enabled or disabled by clicking on the power button to the left of the band number/shape.
- Click on the band number/shape icon directly to view the controls associated with that band.
Static EQ Controls
Static EQ controls for the selected Neutron 2 EQ are located on the left side of the bottom bar in the Tonal Balance Control interface.
- BAND SHAPE: Selects the filter shape used by the selected band.
- FREQUENCY: Sets the center frequency for the selected filter.
- GAIN: Sets the positive/negative gain applied to the selected filter.
- Q: Sets the bandwidth of current filter.
Dynamic Mode Controls
Dynamic mode controls are accessible to the right of the static controls and can be enabled for each band individually.
- DYNAMIC MODE ENABLE/DISABLE: Enables Dynamic mode operation for the selected band.
- DYNAMIC TRIGGER DIRECTION: Determines the direction of the dynamic filter for the selected band.
- THRESHOLD: Determines the dynamic trigger threshold level for the selected band. When signals exceed the Threshold level the filter will be triggered.
- SIDECHAIN: Enables or disables the use of a Sidechain input source for the Dynamic triggering of the currently selected band.
- SIDECHAIN SOURCE SELECTION: When Sidechain is enabled, sets the Sidechain input source for the currently selected band.
Dynamic Mode Indicators
- When Dynamic mode is enabled for an EQ band, a directional arrow will be displayed above or below the applicable node in the EQ curve display. The arrow icon direction reflects the selected Dynamic Trigger Direction.
Note about HP/LP Bands
- The HP and LP bands (first & last bands) in Neutron 2 do not support Dynamic Mode operation.
